. . .

Darina sat on the bench at the end of her bed and pulled her boots off of her legs and sighed the minute her thick thighs could breathe. She stood to her feet and removed the rest of her clothes as she sauntered into the bathroom.

After lunch, Aziel returned to business as usual, disappearing the moment she walked into the house. She didn’t dwell on it. She’d already expressed too many emotions for one day and chose to wash the day away.

Dressed in a lounge set, she roamed from her bedroom down the hall away from the stairs. Two bedroom doors were open. Guest suites, similar to hers. Another set of rooms with a shared bathroom were empty. All she felt between the white walls was a cold emptiness. She pulled the door closed and turned, only to be face to face with Adonis. She jumped out of her skin and grabbed her chest.

“If you wanted a tour, I would have shown you the estate,” he spoke evenly, almost amused by how startled she was.

“You don’t make any sound when you’re sneaking up on people?” Darina sassed.

Adonis smirked. “You make too much sound when you’re sneaking.”

“I wasn’t sneaking, I was just-”

“Snooping. Which there is no need for you to do since this is your place too. These are children’s bedrooms,” Adonis shared.

Darina’s brows dipped. “He has children?”

“No,” Adonis answered simply, knowing it wasn’t his place to expound on. “Come.”

Darina walked in stride with Adonis down another hall. “Down here is a second office. If you want to settle into it, you can. A few more guest rooms as well.”

Darina looked down the opposite end of the hall. Large double doors remained closed. Adonis glanced over his shoulders as though he didn’t know the layout of the home like the back of his hand. “That’s AB’s quarters. You’ll see it eventually.”

Remembering Aziel’s words from lunch, she was sure she would. Following him down a back stairwell, Adonis led her to the basement. A fully functional gym, indoor pool, basketball court with separate rooms surrounding it. One of which she spotted and sauntered over to, away from Adonis. Entering the space, she looked at the mirrors flanking each wall.

“The room is sound proof and it has built in speakers that’ll connect to your Bluetooth,” Aziel’s voice rumbled, startling her. He chuckled when he saw her jump. “There’s a sound panel in the closet, music is already loaded into it for your choosing.”

She turned around to see if Adonis was still nearby. He wasn’t. “No one announces themselves?”

“I didn’t want to interrupt your tour. Do you like it?”

“The house is beautiful,” Darina answered.

“The room?” Aziel asked, nodding his head to the space surrounding them.

She nodded.

“What do you need to make it yours?”

She chewed her lip, not wanting to ask for anything. She hated being in the position. “A few bars. Maybe tints on the window.”

Aziel’s features dipped. “Why tinted windows?”

“So I can dance without an audience,” she admitted.

“No, I want to be the audience.
